Major players to attend Middle East Shared Ownership Summit

Final preparations are under way for a major shared-ownership industry forum for developers, investors and hospitality firms that takes place in Dubai next month.

The 2010 Middle East Shared Ownership Summit takes place on Saturday, 1 May at the Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, and forms part of the three-day Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC) which takes place from May 1-3.

RCI has partnered with Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) and Bench Events, organisers of AHIC, to host industry leaders at the event, which is a forum to discuss the renewed importance of timeshare, fractional and private residence clubs as integral components of mixed-used developments.

This summit is designed to offer real, executable solutions that leverage current market conditions, and will feature an unprecedented gathering of global and regional industry leaders.

The Summit will offer participants:

• Market opportunities – An opportunity to find out how and why today’s market conditions have significantly enhanced the prospects for shared ownership in MENA

• Sales, marketing and operating solutions – From support in developing in-house capabilities to turnkey operating models designed for developers and asset managers, attendees will be presented with a variety of information to help determine which solution is right for their business

• The luxury segment – Brand experts and leaders will discuss future opportunities for luxury brands to unlock value in real estate development

• The CEO shared ownership handbook – Jeff Tisdall, managing director, RCI MENA, will provide an essential toolkit for senior business leaders, offering macro industry perspective, an overview of the competitive landscape, product category overviews, reviews of relevant business models, identification of critical success factors, alternative operating models and a high level review of relevant legal issues.

• 2010 Shared Ownership Survey: MENA – Claude Attala, managing director of Northcourse, RCI’s shared ownership consulting arm, will present its latest market research. A copy of the research document will be available to each attendee at no additional charge.

The Summit will also include panel discussions on:

• How will luxury brands be leveraged in the future to unlock value in real estate products?

The application of luxury brands to real estate products has seen a number of innovations in recent years. Leaders from the companies at the forefront of these efforts will join brand experts as they debate future trends and explore new opportunities. Moderated by Gregg Anderson, global managing director, The Registry Collection, with panellists Scott Woroch, executive vice president, worldwide development, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts; Matt Aspiotis Morley, commercial director, Luxury-Branding; Michael Shvo, president & CEO, Shvo; Greg Doman, senior vice president of Residential Development Global, Fairmont Raffles Hotels International.

Jeff Tisdall, managing director, RCI MENA, said: “The Shared Ownership Summit offers hospitality companies and mixed-use developers an efficient forum in which to better understand the immediate benefits and long-term value that vacation ownership can infuse in their overall business strategy.

“We are encouraged by the continued strong interest international vacation ownership companies are expressing in the Dubai market. The Summit offers international companies a venue to explore opportunities to enter the regional market via partnership or through outright asset acquisition.”
